|
Day 1: Begin your luxury, crewed Alaska yacht charter in Sitka, Alaska and take a walking tour of this beautiful town. Visit the Sheldon Jackson Museum to view Tlingit and Aleut artifacts. Continue to the Sitka National Historical Park to see more native artifacts and an impressive collection of totem poles. Enjoy cocktails and dinner on board your charter yacht.
Day 2: Depart Sitka after breakfast, cruising through Olga and Neva Straits. Fish for salmon from your charter yacht while cruising to Kalinan Bay, north of Salisbury Sound, where you'll anchor for the evening.
Day 3: Cruise through Sergius Narrows and see eagles, the little Sitka black tail deer and the magnificent Alaskan Brown Bear. After fishing and whale watching, cruise down the magnificent west coast of Baranof Island. Hike up to Baranof Lake or choose to simply sit in the hot springs above Baranof falls.
Day 4: Heading further down Chatham Strait you'll cruise into Frederick Sound, the summer feeding grounds for hundreds of migrating Humpback whales. You'll see them alone and in large groups. Overnight in the tranquil anchorage of The Brothers island group, an area where humpback whales cruise close to vessels.
Day 5: After breakfast, cruise through the small islands, watching for whales and hundreds of sea lions sunning themselves on the rocks. Anchor your charter yacht in Cannery Cove on Admiralty Island, a primary summer nesting ground for eagles. This Alaskan island has the densest concentration of grizzly bears in the world – about 2000!
Day 6: In the morning, take a dingy ride to see if the salmon have returned to spawn. Then, cruise up Stevens Passage and catch some salmon in "no name" cove at the mouth of Tracy Arm.
Day 7: Cruise up Tracy Arm, a Norwegian-like fjord 23 miles long, which leads to large icebergs and the tide-water Sawyer Glacier where you'll see seals, eagles, Brown bears, mountain goats and moose. Continue up Stephens Passage, while enjoying lunch on deck and viewing the snow-covered mountains of Admiralty Island. Anchor in Taku Harbor, a favorite among charter yachts.
Day 8: Cruise past Taku Inlet, up Gastineau Channel and arrive in Juneau, Alaska - the final stop on your luxury Alaska yacht charter. Tour the state capital with visits to the Alaska State Museum and Centennial Hall before disembarking.
