Soper's Hole Marina

A sand bar and a very small bridge join Frenchman's Cay and Tortola at the West End of Tortola in the BVI. Soper's Hole is a very picturesque harbor as well as an excellent overnight anchorage for charter yachts.

Blackbeard is said to have taken up residence in the BVI for a couple of years in the late 1700's at Soper's Hole. The area provided several excellent lookout points at which his men could spot ships laden with goods bound for far away lands.

Like shooting fish in a barrel, Blackbeard would raise the Jolly Roger, set sail and swoop down, upon the unsuspecting ships. Once he had "dispatched" their crews, he'd seize their ships and whatever cargo they carried. He made quite a living out of plundering and murder!

Restaurants and Shops

Soper's Hole & Frenchman's Cay is a great stop for charter yachts - stock up on provisions, fill water & fuel tanks, have dinner and enjoy a fabulous BVI sunset! There is an array of restaurants and lovely shops. The Jolly Roger Inn & Restaurant is a great stop for a tropical feast. Soper’s Hole is part of Frenchman’s Cay which also includes Frenchman’s Cay Resort & Restaurant. If you explore the harbor by dinghy you’ll also find Kelly’s Suprette and the Steak & Chop Restaurant. Across from Sheppard’s Marina is Pisces Restaurant which offers huge, delicious breakfast sandwiches and wireless internet access.

The Pusser's Landing at Soper's Hole, West End, Tortola is located directly across from the Custom's Dock so it makes it an ideal stop for yachts to clear in. The waters are calm and sheltered and moorings are affordable, as is food, ice and water. This is home to Tortola’s famous Pusser's Bar and Restaurant—with some of Tortola's best food—and a fully stocked Pusser's Company Store, which offers their own brand of excellent casual clothes.

Divers who want to fill their tanks or have rendezvous dives arranged, can do so at Bluewater Divers Dive Shop. The owners also give scuba lessons.

There are several clothing & gift shops on Frenchman's Cay. Visit BVI Apparel for great T-shirts. Pusser's Store offers their own brand of excellent casual clothes, great gift items, spices, watches, and of course rum. Culture Classic Gift Shop & Zenaida's Boutique sell very interesting gift items and clothing. The Sea Urchin Shop and Latitude 18 carry name brand, casual clothes, sandals, sun glasses and other gift items.

There are now two provisioners to fill your hamper at Soper's Hole Marina on Frenchman's Cay. The Harbor Market and the Ample Hamper Too stores offer basic provisioning and deli items, gourmet goods, fresh fruit and vegetables, wine, beer, liquor and soft drinks.
