The Amalfi Coast, Featuring Ravello and Positano
The Amalfi Coast is the coastline on the south of the Sorrentine Peninsula that extends from Positano in the west to Vietri sul Mare in the east. The eleven dramatic towns that hug the rugged terrain of Amalfi Coast include Ravello and Positano. The Amalfi Coast is a very popular destination for charter yachts.
Ravello Overlook
Ravello is one of the most attractive towns on the Amalfi Coast. The town has a population of only 2,000 who live on homes perched high above Amalfi. The town is famous for its views, its gardens, and its musical festivals. Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo feature panoramic gardens and these gardens, which inspired Wagner, are the setting of chamber music concerts which are held from March to November.
Positano
Chic Positano is the most vertically scenic of the Amalfi Coast villages as its buildings cling, in tiers, to the rock face. Small white houses, along with bright flowers, shops displaying multihued cloths, and seemingly endless stairways, create a vibrant, picturesque image. Dating from the 10th Century, the village has many historically and archaeologically interesting sites. Many yacht charter guests enjoy the Villa Romana, the eight 16th Century defense towers, and the majolica-domed St. Maria Assunta, which houses the Byzantine inspired 13th Century Black Madonna icon.
