One of the most pleasant harbors to visit in New England aboard a charter yacht is Hadley Harbor, “one of the best protected and attractive anchorages in the cruising ground south of Cape Cod” according the Cruising Guide to the New England Coast.
Located off of Wood’s Hole, the harbor has been a popular stopover and resting place for area sailors and charter yachts for many years but because all but a few of the Elizabeth Islands are privately-owned, visitors cannot go ashore.
However, people can dinghy ashore at Bull Island for a half-hour hike. There are no amenities at Hadley other than three large moorings placed inside the harbor by the Coast Guard. The other moorings are private.
