Hyannis Harbor Lighthouse at Sunset

Hyannis, the largest village in Barnstable, is often referred to as the “capital of the Cape.” Due to its large natural harbor, Hyannis is a popular charter yacht destination and a hub for recreational boating and commercial fishing. Hyannis is a primary ferry link to Nantucket Island and Martha’s Vineyard Island.

The JFK Hyannis Museum, located in the old Town Hall on Main Street, focuses on John F. Kennedy’s time spent in the town. There is also a memorial to the former president on the Lewis Bay waterfront, which includes a JFK quote “I believe it is important that this country sail and not sit still in the harbor.” Main Street, Hyannis is the best place to find a variety of shops and restaurants.

"Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, Cuttyhunk, The Elizabeth Islands and Block Island were much better than expected.  We really enjoyed our charter out of Newport.  And how else, except by charter can you see these lovely islands?"
--Mr. and Mrs. J
