Whether you're looking to sail and relax, enjoy the wonders of nature or immerse yourself in Polynesian culture, there's something for everyone on a yacht charter in Tahiti and the Society Islands (including Bora Bora). Explore all the captivating charms of this special place aboard a luxury yacht charter.

Tahiti and her beautiful islands are located in five archipelagoes spread over 1240 miles, halfway between California and Australia, in the middle of the South Pacific.

Bora Bora Yacht CharterTahiti's leeword islands include the four main islands of Raiatea, Tahaa, Huahine and Bora Bora. They are just five or six hours sail from each other aboard your private charter yacht. Each island is dominated by tall volcanic hills covered in luscious green undergrowth and surrounded by a coral reef wich shelters its lagoon and fine sandy beaches.

Bora Bora - Jewel of the South Seas
Undoubtedly the most famous island in Polynesia, Bora Bora is surprisingly small. But what the tiny gem lacks in size, it makes up for in beauty. Approaching from the sea on your luxury yacht charter, you are greeted with a captivating vision... a coral reef dotted with emerald islets encircles the main island like a string of luscious pearls. At the centre of this dramatic setting the chisel-like bulk of Mount Otemanu rises sharply out of the gentle lagoon.

Raiatea - Sacred Homeland
Raiatea is the second largest island in French Polynesia, a 120 mile sail aboard your motor or sailing charter yacht, northwest of Tahiti. Ancient cultural, religious and royal heart of Polynesia, Raiatea was, according to legend, the birthplace of the gods. From here the great canoes set out for Hawaii and New Zealand, entire tribes sailing off to colonise new shores. Long ago the people called the island Havai'i ("the homeland") and believed it was the place where spirits live on after death. And it is only here, on the slopes of sacred Mount Temehani, that one can glimpse the rare tiare apetahi, a flower found nowhere else on earth.Raiatea-Tahaa Yacht Charter

Tahaa - Vanilla Island
Tahaa is so named for its numerous plantations of the fragrant vanilla plant, whose sweet aroma lingers in the air, seeping into every nook and cranny of the island. While fishing and farming are its main livelihoods, what seduces charter yachts are its pretty beaches, coral gardens, and the sandy motu which pepper the lagoon it shares with Raiatea.

Huahine - The Garden Isle
Huahine Yacht CharterLeast explored of the Society Islands by charter yacht visitors, Huahine is a happy, peaceful place, where the traditional Polynesian way of life continues in spectacular scenery that rivals any on Moorea or Bora Bora. Lush with vanilla plantations, banana groves, and taro fields, Huahine is actually two islands basking in one lagoon, encircled by a coral necklace. The lagoon, bordered by white sand beaches, is rich with sea life. Huahine is also the proud owner of one of the largest and best preserved archaeological sites: the Maeva marae, which is a group of a number of large marae at the foot of Mount Mouatapu and on the shores of lake Fauna Nui. Legends also abound in this island desired by Hiro and now adopted by artists in search of their roots.

Tahiti - Queen of the Pacific
Tahiti Yacht CharterThe island of Tahiti, towering over the ocean like a proud and royal Queen, is crowned by a circle of majestic peaks. The mountainous interior shelters deep valleys, clear streams, and high waterfalls, all bathed in the green iridescence of Mother Nature's light. The flat coastal lands, edged with a rugged coastline, are home to fields of tropical flowers and most of the island's population. Tahiti is a charter yacht dream location!

Papeete, the invigorating capital city and gateway of the territory, boasts world-class resorts, spas, fine restaurants, nightclubs, and endless shopping at the vibrant markets, pearl shops, and boutiques.

Moorea - The Magical Island
Moorea Yacht CharterMoorea, soaring magically out of the ocean in an explosion of green velvet, is what you would imagine a South Seas island to be. A wide, shallow lagoon surrounds the island's vertical mountains where poetic threads of waterfalls tumble down fern-softened cliffs. Peaceful meadows flanked by pinnacles of green will fill your senses and renew your belief in the majesty of nature. Pastel-painted houses surrounded by gardens of hibiscus and birds of paradise, circle the island in a fantasy of happy, yet simple villages.

Weather
Cooled by the gentle breezes of the Pacific, the climate of these islands is sunny and pleasant. Roughly speaking , there are two yacht charter seasons: from November through March the climate is warmer and humid, and from April through October the climate is cooler and drier. Most of the rain falls during the warmer season, but there are also many lovely sunny days during these months, with refreshing trade-winds.

Sample South Pacific Yacht Charter - Tahiti and the Society Islands (incl. Bora Bora)

Day 1:  Arrive in Papeete, Tahiti, where your yacht charter crew will greet and take you to your luxury, crewed charter yacht. Relax on deck before a crew member guides you around Papeete’s flower and fish markets and to one of Tahiti’s secluded tropical waterfalls. As the sun sets, depart for a short sail to the island of Moorea.

Day 2: Upon arrival at Openohu Bay, Moorea, charter yacht members will be greated by the island’s jagged peaks, cloaked by lush greenery and encircled by the deep blue of the ocean and sky. Located a mere 12 miles (19 kilometers) west of the island of Tahiti, Moorea is a triangular shaped island encircled by a lagoon of translucent green, fringed by an azure blue Polynesian sea. Spend the day swimming, relaxing, and exploring the island.

Day 3: Sail your power or sailing charter yacht from beautiful Moorea to Huahine, the “Garden Isle”, arriving just as the sun is setting. A common barrier reef surrounds the two islands of magical Huahine and both are filled with vanilla, coffee and taro plantations and groves of breadfruit, mango, banana and papaya. Offshore motus lie inside the reef where watermelons and cantaloupe flourish in the white coral sand.

Take a swim in Huahine’s reef-surrounded harbor before touring the island with crew as guides. Visit a pearl farm set on a coral outcrop on the eastern side of the island and tour the ancient temples.

Day 4: After breakfast, it’s a short sail to the uninhabited island of Tahaa. As you approach you’ll catch brief sweet scents of vanilla and coconut. Enjoy a picnic on the beach after a swim in the clear waters. Relax on the charter yacht or explore the island. Then enjoy cocktails as the sun sets behind the distant island of Bora Bora.
