Tomb Bay, Turkey
Tomb Bay, Turkey

Located just six miles from Gocek, the pine and oleander-lined Tomb Bay is a very popular yacht charter destination. Tomb Bay is the site of ancient Cyra, a Carian and Lycian city state. The Carians are thought to have been natives of Asia Minor while the Lycians were driven from Crete by Minos of Knossos. The ruins date from the 5th century BCE. There are many tombs, the remains of a Roman-Byzantine bath once fed by a nearby spring, and a Cryan acropolis. Other ruins situated around the bay are two 4th century BCE Ionic temple tombs, three house tombs, numerous pigeon-hole tombs and a vaulted tomb. After exploring, charter yacht visitors enjoy relaxing at the local restaurant or visiting the Turkish barber and masseur!

"We asked for history, and got it cruising the Ancient Trading Route along southern Turkey. So much to see, and all along a gorgeous coast with lovely water. I think it must be far easier to see this area by sea than land."
