U.S Pilot Fees
The U.S. Superyacht Association had their meeting in Newport in June. This organization, in its 26th year, offered seminars and meetings for the superyacht industry. Northrop and Johnson was a sponsor of the Captain’s question and answer period and Northrop and Johnson Yacht Charters organized Ken Bracewell, Captain of the superyacht Curt C to participate in the question and answer period. Of great interest was the question of pilot fees for American and foreign flag yachts entering in various U.S. ports.

Recently, at the end of the annual industry Newport Charter Show, Northrop and Johnson Yacht Charters in Newport was pleased to help sponsor a Crew Party on Friday night, June 27th for the crew that participated with long hours of work showing their yachts to Brokers at the show.

Discounts, Discounts, Discounts!
We can say that we never thought we would see it, especially in August, which is High Season in many charter locations, however discounts are being asked for and in certain instances given. Discounts are often given by providing an extra day, such as 8 days for the price of 7, which means that the Owner still earns the money wanted, but you have a longer time on board.

Charter Indonesia and Myanmar
Missy Johnston is heading off to Denpassar in early September to sail on board Silolona, 164′ gaff rigged traditional sailing yacht called a Phinisi. Silolona charters throughout Indonesia in the Spring and Summer including the Suva Sea, home of the Komodo Dragon, and the Banda Sea, birthplace of the East Indies Dutch Trading company.

Cowes Week is one of the largest regatta events of its kind in the world. Running since 1826, Cowes Week draws over 1000 racing yacht to compete in over 40 races taking place during the week.
