Yacht Charter; The Historic Island of Hvar, Croatia

Town of Hvar, Croatia

Only able to be visited by sea, the island of Hvar in Croatia, one of the Dalmatian Islands, is a natural stop on a crewed yacht charter along the historic Croatian coast.  Sitting in a strategic trading location, Hvar has been a natural stop for seafarers throughout seafaring history, with each civilization leaving a mark on the face of this island with many of the historic buildings and ruins still remaining.  Cruise into Hvar City on the island of Hvar, once home to a major naval base of the Venetian Empire on your crewed yacht charter of the Dalmatian Coast.

Yacht Charter; Visiting Diocletian’s Palace in Split Croatia

Diocletians Palace - Split, Croatia

Cruise into the city of Split on a crewed yacht charter along the coast of Croatia at the turn of the 21st century to explore the ruins of the Palace of Diocletian built at the turn of the 4th century AD, approximately 1600 years ago.  Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of several along this very historic coastline, this site is well worth seeing while on your crewed yacht charter.  A crewed yacht charter in Croatia is a mixture of beautiful water, many islands, and a green coastline.  And strewn throughout all are the remains of a long and varied history reflected in the architectural ruins of many cultures across the centuries that are highlights of this coastline.  Here at Northrop and Johnson Yacht Charters, we think that the Palace of Diocletian is one of the highlights not to be missed.

Yacht Charter, Visiting Kotor, Montenegro

Kotor at the head of the Boka Kotorska Fjord

Tucked up under the coastline of Croatia is the small coastal area of Montenegro, lining either side of the mouth of the Boka-Kotorska Fjord. At the head of this fjord in Montenegro is the historic city of Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage site and an excellent starting location for a crewed yacht charter of Montenegro and Croatia. Dubrovnik, Croatia, also a UNESCO World Heritage site is only 40 nautical miles away from Kotor. Starting your crewed yacht charter of this area embarking from Kotor, Montenegro a UNESCO World Heritage site with the next stop Dubrovnik, Croatia, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a great way to start your crewed yacht charter of this lovely and historic cruising area. However don’t start your crewed yacht charter to sail down the lovely fjord between the two UNESCO World Heritage site cities, before exploring Kotor and perhaps even spending time on land exploring Montenegro.

Yacht Charter; Include Trogir in your yacht charter itinerary for Croatia

Trogir; Bridge from the Old City

Trogir, which is 27 kilometers west of the city of Split in Croatia, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and should be a stop on every yacht charter itinerary for a crewed yacht charter in Croatia.   Actually located on a small island, Trogir is connected to the mainland via a bridge with a protected harbor for any yacht to overnight on a crewed yacht charter along the Croatian coast.  First established as a protected harbor by the Greeks in the 3rd century BC, Trogir has had continuous urban settlement for the last 2300 years.  Trogir is considered one of the best examples of a Romanesque-Gothic Medieval walled city still in existence in Central Europe.  Tuck into the harbor on your crewed yacht charter and wander through Trogir along streets originally laid out in the Hellenistic time period.
