Written by Missy Johnston

Bellingham, Washington
Fly into Seattle and take a short float plane ride north to Bellingham, Washington where you’ll board your yacht. Many islands and islets make up the spectacular San Juan Islands in Washington State. Eagles nest here and pods of orca feed in the rich waters just beyond the outstretched fingers of the U.S. mainland. The three main islands of the San Juan group are Lopez Island, Orcas Island, and San Juan Island. Relax and unwind before setting sail to Lopez Island, an ideal place to dig for clams or to simply view the spectacular scenery of deep, green water, fir-clad islands, and playful whales.

Victoria Inner Harbor
After breakfast cruise to Victoria, British Columbia. Spend the afternoon at Butchart Gardens, one of the most spectacular botanical attractions in North America which displays more than a million plants each year. Then stop in for a drink at the British Colonial-themed Bengal Room at the Fairmont Empress Hotel.

Roche Harbor
Return to the United States via Roche Harbor Village, a picturesque little entry port on the northern end of San Juan Island. Listed on the National Register of Historical Sites, this village will take you back in time to a quiet, relaxed place as you stroll the beautiful Victorian gardens and enjoy the ambiance of the historical buildings. Tour the notable waterfront Hotel de Haro. Later, dine on fresh salmon and shellfish at McMillin’s, and watch the sunset colors ceremony.

Orcas
Take a morning hike past old lime quarries to the McMillin family’s striking, seven-pillared mausoleum. Explore scenic Reid Harbor by sea kayak or dinghy.

Friday Harbor
Cruise to the east side of San Juan Island to explore Friday Harbor, the social capital of the San Juan’s in summertime. Stroll the harbor front and browse through the galleries featuring work by local artists, or tour The Whale Museum and The Historic Museum.

Orcas Island Lighthouse
Sail to the secluded 1800’s town of East sound on Orcas Island. Explore this friendly Victorian port village and later, visit Rosario, an exclusive Rock Resort headquartered in a historic mansion. After days of spent exploring the scenic nature of the San Juan’s you’ll truly enjoy the soothing services at the resort’s Avanyu Spa.
