Canouan Island, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Caribbean

Canouan Relaxing on the Beach
Written by Missy Johnston
Canouan Island was pulled from virtual obscurity in the 1990’s by the building of two major resorts on the island. As part of the nation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the Caribbean, Canouan offers those visiting by crewed yacht charter on a yacht charter itinerary of the Caribbean Windward Islands a taste of that which luxury resorts on land offer given the relative wildness of the undeveloped Caribbean of years past.
Prior to resort building on Canouan, the island was very undeveloped, with little local industry, shops or commercial businesses. Indeed today on the island, outside of the resort areas, goats and chickens run wild and locals must travel on the ferry to St. Vincent to stock up on most needed staples.

Scuba Diving on the Barrier Reef
Canouan is a tiny island, only 3 miles in total land area, located 25 miles south of the island of St. Vincent. Partially surrounded by a one mile long coral reef on the Atlantic side of the island, Canouan offers protected anchorages and long expanses of protected pristine sandy white beaches for visiting guests on a crewed yacht charter cruise of the Caribbean Windward Islands.
