Your own Private Chef
This summer holds a terrific selection of crewed charter yachts available in New England, as many owners that normally send their yachts to the Mediterranean are keeping their yachts closer to home. You can book now for a trip anytime between July 4th and mid-September. On your private yacht charter, experience fresh, clean air and pristine waters. Enjoy being as far away from large crowds as you’d like while relaxing and having fun.
If you’re a swimmer, hop into the water and swim to a deserted beach to explore, sun-bathe, or simply enjoy the gorgeous views. If you’re not a swimmer, don’t fret—plan a land expedition instead to explore the rich-in-history New England coasts and islands.
Your Private Space On Board
If you’d like to stay aboard the entire visit and stay remote, just say the word. You’ll be taken care of in a lovely, isolated anchorage by your full-service crew and five-star chef. This is YOUR trip—you have the ability to work with your private yacht charter broker to establish a customized plan at your pace and comfort level, making the get-away as exclusive as you would like it to be.
Below, find two classic suggested itineraries for a wonderful summer New England charter trip. The first is a southern New England charter out of Newport, RI which includes Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, and Cape Cod. The second is “Down East” Maine out of Camden and it includes Isleboro, Vinalhaven, and Bar Harbor. These two itineraries are suggested only, as for every charter a customized itinerary is created around exactly what you want to do.
Bowens Wharf Newport, RI
Ready for luxury and relaxation? This itinerary has it all. Start your charter in Newport, RI— also referred to as the “City by the Sea,” boasting a pristine harbor rich with American Colonial and Gilded Age history. Before your yacht charter begins, enjoy all that Newport has to offer.
One of the most special aspects of Newport to explore are the historic Gilded Age Mansions along Bellevue Avenue and Newport’s ocean edge. Once referred to as “Summer Cottages” for the rich and famous during the Civil War and through the turn of the next century, they are filled with outstanding art, furniture, mantels, and even complete paneled rooms brought from castles and estates in Europe. Many also have gorgeous views of the coast. The best way to see many of the mansions is via the Cliff Walk. This three-and-a-half mile pathway is beautiful at any time of the day—but most especially in the morning.
Nearby is Block Island—a small island just a short 12 miles away from Point Judith on the Rhode Island coast. This island offers an array of outdoor activities to enjoy, including cycling, hiking, sailing, and fishing. Want to see the island from above? No problem. Take a beautiful helicopter tour. Relax on the front porch of one of the early 1900’s hotels while rocking in an iconic rocking chair and enjoying a stunning view of the ocean. With a multitude of beaches, hiking paths, shops, and restaurants, there is plenty to do on this small but mighty island.
In the morning, cruise to nearby Cuttyhunk Island—a secluded paradise at the southern end of the Elizabeth Islands. This island is quaint and quiet, allowing for maximum relaxation—where you are truly away from it all. The adventurous can take a hike around the island to enjoy what nature has to offer. To relax, lay on one of the many peaceful beaches to soak up the sun. Or try your hand at fishing if the Striped Bass are running. This island offers a true opportunity to be away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Edgartown Harbor, Marthas Vineyard
Depart for Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard. This elegant port is not unfamiliar with having yachts in its harbor during the summer months, making it a top-notch yachting destination. Take the day to enjoy high-end shopping and dining on this island, while wandering on quaint cobblestone streets. It will feel as if you are far away—somewhere transported back to Colonial Times. After a day of shopping and eating, hop back on board to enjoy a five-star private dinner on the top deck under the stars, with a beautiful island view.
Just a short sail away from Martha’s Vineyard is Nantucket, where you can spend the day as you choose. Explore the main colonial village right on the harbor with secret gardens peeking out behind white picket fences. Along the same streets are upscale shops, boutiques, and restaurants. Enjoy a slice of history on
the island with a variety of museums, art galleries, and lighthouses available to tour. If you’re in need of some rest, take the day to soak up the sun on your private yacht or on one of Nantucket’s lovely beaches. It’s your trip—enjoy it as you please.
The final stop on your charter is Hyannis. Famous for being a frequent vacation getaway for the Kennedy family, enjoy soaking up the sun, the sand and saltwater, and a variety of harbourfront restaurants. This town is laid-back and friendly. Wander along the beaches and eat some amazing food. In the morning cruise back to Newport to disembark.
“Down East” Maine- Camden
Camden , Maine
If you’re looking for a true getaway luxury vacation in lovely seclusion, surrounded by beauty, this itinerary is perfect for you. Start your trip in Camden Harbor. Take a hike up Mount Battie to see the gorgeous views of the island and surrounding areas. Or, take some time to stroll through Rockport, just south of Camden, to hear a concert at the 19th century opera house. There are also cute shops along the streets of Camden. Either way you choose to go, there are a variety of outstanding restaurants and boutique shops to enjoy before you set sail in the morning.
McGlathery’s and Round Island
Penobscot Bay Maine
After lunch, head out of Camden Harbor, enjoying the clear blue ocean waters and your full-service crew as your charter begins. There are many beautiful islands and plenty of small coves for anchoring where you might have the anchorage all to yourself—one of our favorites is between McGlathery’s and Round Islands. Enjoy a scrumptious dinner created by your onboard private chef, perhaps on the top deck under a clear night sky, surrounded by the natural beauty of Maine.
Lobster Fishing Boat Down East Maine
In the morning cruise “Down East” to Vinalhaven. This nearly untouched scenic island is great for sight-seeing and swimming in a nearby quarry. The harbor is filled with little Maine lobster boats as this village is home to many of Maine’s lobster fishermen. Visit Seal Bay for breathtaking views. For a bit of civilization, head to Carvor’s Harbor to watch fishing and lobster boats sail in and out throughout the day, perhaps buying fresh caught lobsters or fish right from the fisherman.
Isle au Haut or Butter Island
Butter Island Beach from Hiking Trail
It’s a short cruise over to Isle au Haut or Butter island. Either island is a great place to get some exercise and enjoy the views. Acadia National Park is a breathtaking national treasure and a “must-see.” Take a hike on one of the many park trails through bayberry and wild blueberry bushes, or pack a picnic for a late breakfast on the beach. After spending the morning exploring, head to Northeast Harbor. Take a stroll through the boutiques and art galleries before turning in for the night.
Bass Harbor Headlight
Depart for Frenchman’s Bay in the morning. Enjoy a scenic fresh seafood lunch on anchor by Cadillac Mountain and Mount Desert Island before heading to Bar Harbor for the night. Bar Harbor can be visited time and time again because of its gorgeous scenery and abundance of fun activities. Once a famous Gilded Age summer location for the wealthy, there are many mansions and museums nearby to visit. Important summer residents such as the Rockefellers provided the land for Acadia National Park which surrounds Bar Harbor. There are carriage roads, perfect for bicycling or walking through the forest, and many miles of hiking trails. Catch an afternoon tee time at Kebo Valley Golf Club or walk through the downtown village for some amazing local shopping.
Bar Harbor, Maine
Sail up through Eggemoggin Reach, a popular passage along Maine’s coast. Cruise into Buck’s Harbor after lunch to anchor for the night. Many refer to Buck’s Harbor as the best harbor on Penobscot Bay due to its friendly inhabitants and top-notch facilities. There is a beautiful pier with lovely surroundings for a quiet last night before heading back to Camden Harbor in the morning.
