The best possible way to get to the Bahamas is on your own private chartered yacht. Enjoy the delightful experience of traveling by waters to these stunning islands, without any of the responsibilities. Be prepared to enjoy yourself, and that will be the only requirement! This is easy on a private charter yacht where on board, there is a Captain, Chef and crew. Cruise through the islands on an itinerary created just for you.
This article describes Harbour Island, one of the many Bahama islands, known to the locals as Briland. It is famous for 3.5 miles of pink sand beaches protected by a coral reef, and for its quaint shops. It is the perfect destination if you want to relax with your family and friends. Harbour Island is not as crowded as other islands, which makes it even more picturesque. Everyone who visits comments on the friendliness of the people who live there.
Harbour Island was once the capital of the Bahamas, as this area of the Bahamas was one of the first areas settled in Colonial days. It is 200 miles from Miami, 60 miles from Nassau, and 2 miles from Eleuthera. The high season is December through April. Visitors enjoy the beach, of course, but the water is incredibly inviting and offers superb snorkeling and diving. Check out the itineraries we recommend here for all of the Bahamas, including Harbour Island. Conch is a local delicacy, served as fritters, fingers, and conch burgers; you’ll want to sample the local fare.
The architecture alone is worth the trip. A small village called Dunmore Town is the only town on Harbour Island and is rich with colorful, colonial New England architecture, complete with white picket fences, peaked roofs, and shuttered windows. Use golf carts just like the locals to explore the island before returning to your yacht for a relaxing evening enjoying a spectacular sunset from the top deck.
We’ve been there and we’ve helped many other people visit this tropical paradise. We can help you create the perfect getaway for that special occasion . . . or just because it’s time to take a well-deserved break.
